Ben has recently started peeing indoors. He even does it within minutes of being outside but always does it on the same spot. He doesn't make any noise before doing it. Just goes and pees.
There is a lot going on at the moment with Maki getting close to due date and us having the builders in doing some remodelling and an extension going on.
Any ideas on the cause and possible solution to our wet little problem? |

it could even be something as simple as oi pay me attention NOW!!
how do you react when you see the puddle?
when you see the puddle say nothing and just clear it away being careful not to use bleach. bleach will heighten the ammonia in the urine and will make the piddle patch stand out all the more for ben.
when he does piddle when in the garden or out on walks a;ways praise him and give a reward. he will soon see that puddles outside bring a tasty treat and a nice word but puddles inside and you dont even look at him. _________________ http://4leggedfriends.proboards79.com/index.cgi

Try this link
http://www.canis.no/rugaas/oneqanda.php?id=455
- it may help. If you can't get the link, it's on the Turid Rugaas site
( http://www.canis.no/rugaas/index.php ) under Questions and Answers "peeing indoors".
One of the first things suggested is to get the dog checked out at the vet in case of a health problem.
The two other main suggestions are if he is an entire male there could be a bitch in season around (or maybe one of the builders has a bitch in season?), or stress - due to changed circumstances and lots going on. |

I think we may have got it. It's a combination of it all really. We took him to the vet for a check over particularly as he had a dose of the squits too. Nothing wrong there but the vet did comment on his boisterous nature. We decided that with the combination of his bounce, the disruption in the house and the fact he doesn't get as much exercise as he used to with Maki not being able to walk him anymore (only 26 days to go) it has all added up to this disruptive behaviour. I think there is a certain amount of attention seeking here too. I only have 2 more days at work then I am off until early March so hopefully we can make sure we work this one out of him.
Thanks for your responses though. got me thinking in the right direction. _________________
